Third Consecutive Day of Protests in Iran

Protests in Iran have entered a second consecutive day, spreading from major cities to university campuses nationwide, where crowds are marching with defiant chants of “Down with Dictators” and “Long Live the King.” The demonstrations, driven by mounting anger at the regime and worsening living conditions, have seen students and ordinary citizens alike fill streets and courtyards despite an intensified security presence and reports of violent crackdowns in several locations. Numerous clashes with security forces, including Basij units and IRGC-aligned police, were reported, with protesters in several areas forcing regime forces to retreat under pressure from the growing crowds.

Uprising in Iran

In the wake of the rial’s dramatic collapse, Iranians across multiple cities have poured into the streets, closing bazaars and turning commercial districts into centers of open defiance against the Islamic Republic. Amid clashes with security forces and volleys of tear gas, crowds have adopted explicitly pro-monarchy slogans, chanting “This is the final battle, Pahlavi will return,” “Reza Shah bless your soul,” and “Long Live the King,” as these monarchist slogans echo from Tehran to other major urban centers. The Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has publicly endorsed the uprisings, urging merchants, workers, and even security personnel to stand with the demonstrators, lending the protests a clear anti-regime and pro-Pahlavi character.
